TBX

TBX is a fictional company specialising in office climate control.

The goal of this project was to design an app that provides insights into office atmospheres (temperature, humidity, oxygen levels, and occupancy) and allows users to book workspots, enhancing their overall office experience.

Process

Empathise

Researched users' interest in office atmosphere data and the preferences for types of data. On top of that, challenges faced by users in office reservations were examined.

DEFINE

Identified the main pain points of users' regarding office environment and reservations through an affinity diagram.

IDEATE

Combined the main pain points of users in one user flow and brainstormed different solutions.

PROTOTYPE

Developed three mid-fidelity screens and one high-fidelity screen of the app.

TEST

Next steps involve testing. As there was a time constraint to this project, testing was not feasible.

User research

I conducted user research to empathize with potential users and gain a deeper understanding of their needs, pain points, and aspirations. As there was a time constraint of 8 hours, the research methods included email interviews and face-to-face interviews with 10 participants in total.

Real-time insights on atmosphere variables (temperature, humidity, and oxygen levels) are crucial for choosing a comfortable workspace, according to 90% of respondents

Finding a quiet spot for focused work is a struggle for 60% of the respondents.

User needs

Potential users expressed a desire for:

  • insights in lighting - 100% of respondents mentioned the need for good natural lighting and windows;

  • insights in available hardware;

  • advanced booking options like booking for multiple days, booking in advance and booking meeting rooms;

  • insights in noise levels &

  • booking working spots for colleagues.

The problem

Research showed that finding a suitable spot to work is the main problem. Insights in atmospheric data could help users in making their decisions.

"How might we help users in finding and booking working spots that fit their needs and preferences?"

The user

To help understand the target user, I created Olivia's persona. This persona is based on the demographics of the respondents and interviewees and shares the most common frustrations with the target audience.

Olivia.jpg

Olivia is a marketing specialist, crafting campaigns that make an impact. She is a vibrant soul who thrives in collaborative spaces and she cherishes the connections and face-to-face interactions that fuel her innovation and spark ideas.

Goals & needs

  • Easy, quick and convenient workspace and meeting room reservations.

  • Spaces for collaboration: Olivia requires well-equipped meeting rooms and collaboration spaces for team discussions and client presentations.

  • Quiet spots to limit distractions for focused work

  • Insights into office atmosphere: Olivia values insights into the office atmosphere, particularly those related to natural lighting (windows).

Style guide

The bright blues and purples in the TBX App show trust, creativity, and an energetic office vibe. These colours match TBX's aim to improve the office experience. They represent a brand style that mixes trust and creativity, making the app reliable and inspiring for users in their office spaces.

User flow

We know now better what the user wants and how to brand ourselves to stand out. Time to think about the design of the screens. To do that, we need a user flow. I created two user flows, which I designed to be simple and intuitive.
User flow #1 guides the user through the process of creating a personalized meal plan, and user flow #2 is related to users tracking their progress after some time.
